Goodbye Joystiq! It is sad to see you go.

Written and Edited by Lynn Gerena ( Geeky Goth Gamer Dad )

It is sad to say that Joystiq is shutting it’s doors.

AOL confirmed that they're closing Joystiq down on February 3rd following rumors earlier this week about its future. Along with the closing of Joystiq they are also shutting their sister blogs WoW insider and Massively. The latter catered to MMO news. WoW Insider is a World of Warcraft-centric blog that occasionally covered Blizzard's other games as well. It's been in operation since 2005.

Joystiq is a video gaming blog founded in June 2004 as part of the Weblogs, Inc. family of weblogs, now owned by AOL.

It is a sad news considering everyone at the web blog was not expecting it. No one is also aware of the reasons behind it. AOL didn’t seem to handle the closing very well and basically waiting till the last minute.

It's always sad when people lose their job, particularly people who did said job well. Joystiq will be missed and was one of my go to places for info and was probably a go to many of you as well.

On top of that they lost a former Joystiq editor on January 29th. on a accidental drowning while on vacation.

I hope the crew at Joystiq tries to stay together and hopefully comes back in another way.
