Rise of the Tomb Raider is exclusive to Xbox platforms.
The sequel to the 2013 reboot, Tomb Raider is set to hit Holiday 2015. Why the sudden change to exclusivity to Xbox is unknown but shortly after the reveal Gallagher took to Tumblr and said the following.
"Today's announcement with Microsoft is one step to help us put Tomb Raider on top of action adventure gaming. Our friends at Microsoft have always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and have believed in our vision since our first unveil with them on their stage at E3 2011 ....
"This doesn't mean that we're walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.
"We know that there are probably many more questions and concerns. Please do send them to us, and we'll answer to the best of our ability."
Now maybe Crystal Dynamics wants to make Tomb Raider the top adventure game again and perhaps and this is just a guess they feel that with Sony having Uncharted that they don’t truly need Tomb Raider. As since in a way both games are the same premise and direct competition with one another.
At the same time this would possibly put both Sony and Microsoft battling head to head with Tomb Raider and Uncharted if it also releases Holiday 2015.
No one knows what the true purpose for this exclusivity or for how long it will last. We will just have to wait and see come next year.
