Get ready to say goodbye to some online games and never play them again.
Servers for MAG, SOCOM 4, and SOCOM: Confrontation are shutting down on January 28, 2014, Sony has announced. As it stands, the server shutdowns will essentially make MAG and Confrontation obsolete, due to their reliance on online play.
This comes after the games studio Zipper Interactive closed last year. According to Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida his company never retires a franchise.
I own MAG and had just started to play it recently but it looks like my time with the game is now on borrowed time. I will at least make sure I play a little bit more till that end day arrives.
What do you think about games that automatically become useless because the servers are shut down is this a fair thing to do or will it not matter because it “opens servers” for other areas? Chime in and let us know.
