Just like the Xbox One seems as if their racing title will need a Day One DLC to play.
You will need to connect to the internet to download tracks, cars and other things. From that point onward, you are free to play Forza Motorsport 5 the game offline.
According to Turn 10 Studios head Dan Greenawalt the required content which includes the Drivatar system won’t be on disc because of production schedule but was sure to clarify it would be playable offline.
Here is what he had to say in speaking with IGN on the game.
"So when you first boot up the game, we're going to ask you to log in," Greenawalt told IGN. "And when you log in you're going to get the Drivatars and you're also going to get a whole bunch of content: tracks and cars. Our production schedule is such that we are putting them in as late as possible and that means making them free as downloadable content on Day One. [But] that is required content to play the game.We basically have designed the game to work with all that content no matter how late it's coming in, in order to make the biggest game possible."
Greenawalt mentioned that you would be able to play as the download is going on similar to the Xbox One let’s you play games mid-download.
One thing that was mentioned is that it seems Turn 10 will be working on Forza all the way till launch day as Greenawalt was quoted saying "We're not making a launch game. We're making Forza 5, at launch," I hope this means we will have something very impressive on our hands with this iteration of Forza because they are putting in massive work if true.
