Rare is bringing back a “Historic Franchise” to be revealed at E3 for Xbox One.

Seems there has been a reason Rare has been so quiet on the gaming front.

Remember when Rare Games had some of the best console games for a generation? Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Conker, Banjo-Kazooie. Games that made you just have fun no matter what.

For quite some time Rare was limited only to whatever shovel ware Microsoft wanted them to make. Kinect sports and things along that nature. Well it seems that is just about to change as Microsoft revealed that a historic Rare IP would be announced at the E3 event for the Xbox One console. One can only wonder which IP it can be.

In a conversation with Polygon, Phil Spencer Microsoft Studios corporate VP said the following “Fans of Rare and Rare IP I think will be pleased with what we’re going to show at E3.” He also went on to add the following,

“ We had a limited amount of time today and a lot of story to tell. But Rare remains an incredibly important part of our development capability, That historic IP that they’ve built I think can play a real important role on Xbox One.”

Now the only thing that is for sure is what Rare still has the rights to which are the Banjo-Kazooie series, Perfect Dark, and Killer Instinct. So which of these could it be?

My guess would be the best fighter in my opinion of all time. Killer Instinct because just recently Microsoft just renewed that trademark for the game. I can only dream of it being true and look forward to E3 so we can find out.
