From the creators of Mortal Kombat, Nether Realms Studios bring Injustice: Gods Among Us.
Injustice is a fighting game similar to Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe but starring the heroes and villains of the DC Universe. Injustice runs on a modified version of Unreal Engine 3, allowing for more detail not only to the backgrounds of the game but also to the characters. The game released on April 16, 2013 for Xbox360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U. This is my review of the game without spoilers.
Injustice: Gods Among Us review
The game's story is set in a world where the lines between good and evil are blurred. At the time of my writing the review I am current playing the single player section of the game.
The main story mode of the game is broken down into 12 chapters. Each Chapter you play as a different DC character and fight 4 single rounds and a mini-game to move on to the next chapter. As you move up the ladder in each chapter the rounds get harder and harder. I found my self losing one round of each chapter before moving on. The great part of the game is once you learn how to use the background of the level, it makes a great weapon against your opponents.
Still true to the Mortal Kombat games are the Ladder Matches. Injustice has a classic version of the ladder match and a Heroes and Villains ladder. Also included are several new version of the ladder matches that included Poisoned, survivor, and Mirror matches plus 14 more ladder matches to work on. Each ladder matches has their own objective to complete.
Single player has a S.T.A.R. Labs mission game type. Every character has ten missions to complete, some will offer tips to help finish the mission while other do not. The star labs missions aren't great for XP but lets you get familiarized with the character basic fighting functions while having some fun.
The Archives is the place to use your rewards to unlock skins, artwork, music, background and more ladder matches. New to the game is the 365 new goals. A daily challenge pops up where you can choose to complete for more XP. The Daily Challenge can be found in the main menu of the game.
The Hero card shows your stats and how much you have completed in game, and show each Character's wins and loss record throughout the game.
This being my third fighting game for the Xbox360 ( the first 2 being Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat vs. DCU ) the graphics have become more detailed even with the engine being the same for this game. The question is will it be worth it to keep playing this game and the answer is YES. With all the options you in single-player it makes for a more enjoyable game then previous entries. I have yet to play the multiplayer aspect of the game since I could not find any multiplayer matches going on.
If you’re a fan of fighting games then Injustice: Gods Among Us is definitely worth picking up. Hope to see you on-line Eddy Thorson
