New Gears of War Definitely coming..Game Informer spills.

July Cover Revealed: The Next Gears Of War

So not even a few minutes since my last post Game Informer Magazine has decided to spill some "hints" on what should be an E3 announcement concerning the next Gears of War title. This has put my interest into super high mode and when I find out. I will be sure to let you know here. For now I will post what Game Informer stated on their website and also post the sneak peek looks at the cover.

" Usually, we like to reveal the name and final cover art for our upcoming issue's cover story the Thursday before it hits subscribers. This time we're saving the full unveiling of the game's title until Monday during Microsoft's E3 press conference, but we can confirm that our next cover is the new installment in the Gears of War series and is coming to Xbox 360."
Now we know that the next Gears will definitely be in the Xbox 360's last bit of life cycle and not a Next Gen launch title. This is a little odd for me considering you have both Halo and Gears releasing at the end of the console's possible life cycle and nothing to look forward as for EXCLUSIVES for the next gen console. I will be looking forward to the Microsoft Press Conference now.

Game Informer's July Cover

Any Guesses to when and where this will take place and who is the one in Shackles? Are we looking at a New Gears Protagonist?? Or a young Marcus Fenix? Let me know.

Skyrim DLC Leaked Video...oh and Killer Nuns in the new Hitman game.

Elder Scrolls Skyrim: Dawnguard Expansion

Wow is the one word that comes to mind. Here I was waiting for E3 to see anything pertaining to the Elder Scrolls Skyrim Expansion titled Dawnguard. From the video as you will see it shows two factions. Vampires and the Dawnguard. Seems the Dawnguard are your Hunters. As always it is your call which way you decide to go. perhaps both? As with most Elder Scrolls games choice is key to what your story becomes. I will have to steal my copy of Skyrim from my wife so I can finally play the game. Is anyone else excited for the new expansion for Skyrim? Let me know below.

As an added little treat I am also adding the New Hitman:Absolution Trailer. Nothing beats Killer Nuns in Latex Outfits going after everyone's favorite Assassin.

I hope you guys enjoyed that one as well. The title was called Attack of the Saints. All I can say is none of these ladies ever appeared in any of my religion classes in Catholic School.

Ed's News and Movie Review.

Comic book news

What's been going on in the comic book world for the week.
  • For fans of the Dark Shadows tv series. Dynamite Comics just announced Vampirella/Dark Shadows this August Written by Marc Andreyko and Art by Patrick Berkenkotter.
  • Just announced for September DC Comics will produce an issue #0 for all current titles and pick up #13 in October.

New Movie Reviews

Before I get into this week's new movie review; Due to the mind numbing success of The Avengers, Universal Studios pushed back G.I. Joe 2 from 6/29/12(summer release) to March of 2013 (late winter/early spring release). Universal wants to add 3D to the movie. While the push back is understandable. My question is why a March release? I did a little research on the movies for next summer. I was surprised to see what's coming next summer. Could next year be another block buster summer? (Editor's Note: I still believe it has to do with re-shooting anything with Chad Tatum. Since Duke was suppose to be killed at the beginning of the film.)

Men In Black 3

M.I.B 3 was released on Friday, 5/25/2012. This big budget movie that went to production without a script and the lack luster performance of M.I.B 2 did nothing for the movie. The first thing that went through my mind was that the studio was fast tracking this movie to retain the movie rights. But as I watched this movie to my surprise it was very good. The movie had the same feel and look as the first Men In Black. Josh Brolin playing a younger version of Agent K was perfect. And to my surprise Men In Black 3 has taken the number one movie spot for this weekend.

Sports Entertainment

In sports news the New Jersey Devils Hockey team are going to the Stanley Cup Finals. The question is can this team beat the L.A Kings who are hot right now. The first game is set for 5/30/2012 at 8pm. The NHL Draft is slated for 6/22-6/23/2012.

Batman Arkkham City:Harley Quinn's Revenge also a new Xbox 360 Bundle.

Well back to the grind after the memorial day weekend. These three day weekends go by too quick. I hope everyone enjoyed  their 3 days. The holidays around here are basically what can we do to make it neat for the baby bats. Today is basically a DLC day so I picked up the new DLC Campaign for Batman:Arkham City also The Maw and R-Type Dimensions. My wife is playing The Maw as I write this and she seems to be enjoying dragging the little Maw creature around and eating the other animals.

Now as for Arkham's City's new DLC Harley Quinn's Revenge. I have already played a little of this and playing as Robin is always a cool thing. The first level of the DLC is basically you trying to familiarize yourself with the mechanics as well as getting through Harley's goons. I only finished the first "level" of play just to get my feet wet. I am looking forward to this and finding out what is Batman's state of mind after the main campaign's ending. I will get through it sometime tonight and then have a review on it afterwards. Still need to post my Ghost Recon: Future Soldier review up almost done with that.

Over on Major Nelson's twitter page he posted the info for a new Xbox 360 250gb system bundle. According to his post as will he mentions that it is the "Racing Bundle".  The system will be made available in Mid-June and will have the MSRP of $299.00 This system will include the following.
   A. 250 GB Xbox 360 Console
   B. Forza 4
   C. Wireless Racing Wheel

If you are interested in a new system or have not upgraded and definitely can't afford those 320gb bundles this does not seem to be a bad by though I thought the the Racing Wheel was a Kinect add-on. Even if it is not it is a nice little peripheral to have for racing games.

Well that is all for the moment I am thinking of a contest for two arcade codes I have come across. Details coming up soon. Just keep following and also like the facebook page. You will find it under on Facebook.

Happy Memorial Day and New Releases.

Back in the day on the Motor Pool.
Nothing major going on considering it's Memorial Day. I hope everyone is having a great and safe holiday and if you are somewhere other than the states then Happy Monday. Yesterday no post because I promised my baby bats I would set the pool and just let them go nutty.

As a former service man myself I hope everyone remembers all the brothers and sisters that continue to fight and for those that paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we share.

"Goth" Music not just for basement dwelling kids wishing for Hot topic to be cool again.

Being a Gothic Dad is something i do not take lightly. Since the birth of  the "Baby Bats"(kids) there has not been a chance for the wife and I to go to a nightclub and just listen to some great music. None the less I miss having those moments to lose myself. Now obviously how do you explain the love for Goth if you are not someone who has been in the scene since the beginning. Very simply put for those of you. Goth music in all it's forms is definitely a deep emotional mind trip. Granted that is said for most music but with Goth music it in my opinion is more of a gut wrenching genre. All the angst and pent up energies that I can cut loose while listening to Sister's of Mercy or even VNV Nation. This is the music that has been more in tune with me and my life more than any other music ever.

Goth music according to Wikipedia is this. Gothic rock (also referred to as goth rock or simply goth) is a musical subgenre of post-punk that formed during the late 1970s. Gothic rock bands grew from the strong ties they had to the English punk rock and emerging post-punk scenes. According to both Pitchfork[2] and NME,[3] protogoth bands are Joy Division,[2][3][4] Siouxsie and the Banshees,[2][3] Bauhaus[2][3] and The Cure.[2][3] The genre itself was defined as a separate movement from punk rock during the early 1980s largely due to the significant stylistic divergences of the movement; gothic rock, as opposed to punk, combines dark, often keyboard-heavy music with introspective and depressing lyrics. Gothic rock then gave rise to a broader subculture that included clubs, fashion and numerous publications that grew in popularity in the 1980s.

The problem with the wiki is that there's so many other genre's that fall into that category which have become their own staples in music such as EBM,Darkwave,Trance, and Industrial just to name a few. Hell if you were to think about it even New Wave Bands of the 80's can be considered goth it just depends on what you are listening to. It is why so many Goths love 80's bands and other genre's of music that tend to capture the essence and emotion that is usually what they find in the traditional Gothic bands. I like to think of Goths as some of the most eclectic group of music listeners that are out there. Usually don't discriminate and the artist tend to try to reach a music where it truly can be for everyone. Hell I know of a "Goth Vampire Rapper". Yeah don't ask me how I met him but did his music sound good?? Yes and this is someone who is not big on Rap music as whole specifically current rap music.

Me gothed out in 2008 before my son was born.
I used to be the small kid who just was happy to fit in with anyone around me. I had my friends but always tried to put myself out there. I grew up listening to music from the 50's and whatever Disco or Salsa album she felt like blaring on the record player during the weekends. Was never a kid with a "fashion sense". Even am embarrassed to say i went through my "Preppy" faze. Think of "Joey Jeremiah" from Degrassi:Junior High. Yeah that was me hat and all. Though the hat did not last long. I came late to the party when it came to Goth. At the same time it was at the time when it was receiving a lot more Media exposure due to things like the "Trench Coat Mafia" and the "Vampire Murders." Basically when I was old enough to get into clubs is when I entrenched myself in the culture.

QXT's in Newark N.J
My friend Alex and I would constantly go to QXT's in Newark on both Fridays and Saturday. I would jump from the main floor to the lower levels just losing myself in all the music. The Dj's there were awesome one of my favorite's was DJ Damian Plague as well as Ron Medina. To this day Ron is still at Q's and the last I heard of Damian he was in Germany doing a tour but that was a whiles ago. I did get invited to many a NY outing but never followed through on account I did not wish to be in the city stag basically to the wee hours.
Though there are many great clubs in the city. The music scene I thought I would lose when I left the Tri-State area. Luckily in Tampa there is The Castle which is a great location and has some great sounds in there. But what made me happy is that there was a Gothic/Industrial show on a radio station. Dark Horizons Radio which my wife introduced me to. I listened to them when they were on air and have been listening to them since they went internet only. I have pretty much all the Darkcasts for the last 4 and a half years. Both Teresa and Edd do a fantastic job on Dark Horizons Radio and deserve a lot of credit. Give them a listen to at their website if you are into the music or want to give a listen to what they play on air.
dark horizons radio

I have so many bands that I love. It would take me an eternity to list out every band that I can get lost in. So what I will do is post a list of Bands present and  past that bascially shape my playlists. They are some of my favorites but in no specific order.

 1. Sisters of Mercy - The band who I think turned the page on Goth to being more "clubby dance".

2. The Cure - The godfathers of Goth...:)

3. Bauhaus - Actually the first band I started to listen to. Holds a very close place to my musical heart.

4. Inkubus Sukkubus - I am not going to lie this was one of the bands that made me use Napster. I love this band. I searched far and wide for their cd's. My must buy band cds.

5. VNV Nation - When it comes to synth music and anything pertaining to that. To me these guys are the best. Nothing Ronan Harris and Mark Jackson can't do wrong.

6. Nosferatu - British Gothic Rock at it's best. Damian DeVille and co. just do things right.

7. The Cruxshadows - What can I say these guys are like VNV and Sisters of Mercy when I hear Rogue and the rest I have to move. lol

8. The 69 Eyes - Pure Vampire Goth Rock/Melody If ever there was a band that changed the way I feel about the "Rock-n-Roll" attitude it is this band. I strive to keep my "attitude". And they Rock!!

9. Clan of Xymox - Another one of the Godfathers of Goth. Their music is moody and just fantastic to listen to. Definitely must listen in the dark to get the full experience.

10. Diva Destruction -  Debra Fogarty is simply amazing to listen to. She is a one of a kind talent. Love her vocals.

Well those are just some of the Goth bands that make up a small portion of who I am. I love the influences and just feel like getting lost in music as I write this and as "Azreal Abyss" would say "Stay out of the Daylight."

Far Cry 3 Insane Edition and Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector’s Set Announced

Two new Collector's Editions were made available in the last 24 hours. One is region specific but the commercial for it kicks ass. The other is a fighter's dream come true.

Of course I am talking about FarCry 3 and Street Fighter. Both games are releases collector's editions that seem to be unique. Now I will explain why for each one after I tell you a little about them.

Xbox 360 Version
First is the FarCry 3: Insane Edition. The release video for this was very well done. The premise was to make you feel you were in game with the main antagonist Vaas talking about a bobble head and how beautiful she is but if you listen carefully he mentions the items you received with this Europe-only Edition. Yup that is right the FarCry 3: Insane Edition is for European release. I am sure we will get something close to this version with either an addition or something else. None the less here is what it entails.

Playstation 3 version
FarCry 3 : Insane Edition

A cross-dressing bobble head of Vaas Wahine.
The game comes packaged in a "Survival Kit" box and includes a physical copy of "Insanity Guide" book.
 In-Game Content

Monkey Business: A new quest giver, Hurk , with 4 more missions that equal to about an hour of gameplay.
The Lost Expeditions: Two missions with a Japanese Gun weapon.
The Warrior Pack: A handcrafted dagger with two Tribal Tattoos.
The Hunter Pack: A M700 Rifle with 3 different skins.

The Predator Pack: Four rare predators and a bow for Multiplayer.

I am sure there will be some way all this will make it to the states just a matter of time to when they release that info perhaps E3? But in the mean time here is the video showing the bobble head and enjoy the insanity.

So was that insane or what??!! I think that is one of the best game ads I have seen in quite some time.

The second Collector's Edition is one that is not celebrating a new release but it is one of the "Anniversary" sets. I still can't believe I was 14 when Street Fighter first came on the scene. Yes I dated myself there. I have to tell you I love Street Fighter. Though it is not my top tier fighter of all time that award goes to Rare's Killer Instinct but not by a large margin. These were the two game franchises that I spent many of hours either at home on the consoles or in the arcades dropping quarters. Capcom to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise with a collector's set.
The Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's set will be released for both the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 on September 18th. I am sure many will be going after this one. I wish I could but with both Halo 4 and Borderlands unless I hit some big money I will be missing out on this one.
The price of the Collector's set is $149.99 I am going to let you guys know what all the goodies are for this one.

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition:

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix
Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike Online Edition.
Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition (with all costume DLC)
Street Fighter X Tekken (Includes all character and swap  costume DLC)

A Two-Disc Blu-Ray Video  set which includes a documentary on the history of the series,
the Street Fighter 4 and Super Street Fighter 4 anime films,
episodes of the Street Fighter animated series,
and the Street Fighter 2:Animated Movie.

An 8" light up Ryu statue.

11 discs soundtrack music.
64 page Hardcover Art Book
A replica of Ryu's Belt
and last but not least a Certificate of Authenticity.

Yes that is a lot of stuff for a Collector's Edition but what disappoints me that with all this they do not include any of the Street Fighter Alpha's nor the original game "Fighting Street". Now that would have this set an even sweeter thing to get. Who knows maybe for the 30th anniversary. I still think this a beautiful Collector's Edition and well worth it for the Die-hard Fan of the series. Just wish it had a couple more old school goodies.

I must say these are two sets to look out for if you guys are into getting the end all be all of collector's editions. They are in no means slowing down when making these but at least they put alot of hard work and effort into making them original pieces.

Another post entry by Ed Thorson. Let me know what you would like to see on here. I am looking to post a vid as more of an intro to myself to coincide with my first post as a bookend. Anyway I hope you guys enjoy Ed's Info for the week.

Sports entertainment

As the world of wrestling goes on there are some interesting things that are going on.

  • WWE Raw 3 hours begins 7/23/12. Personally this is a bad idea. How much wrestling can a company do in a week? Raw 9-11pm on Monday. 1 hour of NXT on Wednesday, 1 hour of on Thursday, and let not forget Friday Smack down and Raw AM on Saturday morning. Let be really enough is enough. WWE is just overexposing a program that more about the drama then the actually wrestling. Knowing how Vince operated this will change and /or be drop in time. This is the only show that has more changes all the way to the start of production and even during production still make changes.
  • WWE released the cover for its upcoming 2nd edition of their encyclopedia. With over two hundred new entries
  • WWE No Way Out is schedule for 6/17/2012. The first match has been announced for the PPV
  • Cena vs. Big show,

CBS – NCIS returns for a 10th season. And Elementary a modern American take on Sherlock Holmes staring Lucy Lui as Dr. Watson to begin this fall

CN - Beware the Batman is an upcoming computer-animated television series. The series is set to air on Cartoon Network starting in 2013, as part of their DC Nation block

Convention News

In October the New York comic con returns; the dates are October 11-14, 2012. This four day event has started their guest line up. The first two guests are Geoff Johns and Jim Lee. Stay tune for more info to follow.

Marvel MMO announcement trailer and other news.

Marvel Comics and Gazillion Entertainment have released a trailer for the new Free to Play MMO called Marvel Heroes. Here are some details taken straight from the Marvel Heroes Website.

Taking the MMO category to a completely new level of excitement and engagement, Marvel Heroes combines the energy of action role-playing games with the breadth and immersion of the MMO genre.

Drawing upon the 8,000-plus heroes and villains in the Marvel Universe, Marvel Heroes allows players to become their favorite Marvel Super Heroes – from the popular Iron Man, Thor, Storm and Black Widow to the lesser known Squirrel Girl and Cable. Fans will be able to completely customize their characters by constructing costumes taken from each hero’s rich history, choosing from a huge array of super powers for each character, and finding thousands of other items. There are countless ways for players to tailor their experience.

In the game’s social areas, including Midtown Manhattan and the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, players can meet up with other players, discover missions, and buy items from legendary Marvel characters. While pursuing missions, players will explore such famous Marvel landscapes as the Savage Land, Hell’s Kitchen and Mutant Town.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis, author of Ultimate Spider-Man, New Avengers, Secret Invasion and countless other successes, Marvel Heroes is inspired by some of the most popular tales and events in Marvel Comics history.

David Brevik, President of Gazillion Entertainment and creator of the massive hit games Diablo and Diablo II says: “I’ve been a big Marvel fan for all of my life. Marvel Heroes represents the combination of Marvel IP with all of the knowledge and experience I gained creating Diablo. It is a dream come true. I’m excited to unveil Marvel Heroes and share this revolutionary MMO with both gamers and Marvel fans.”

Marvel Heroes marks a new era in gaming for us,” stated TQ Jefferson, Vice President of Games at Marvel. “For fans to actually become their favorite heroes in an original storyline, explore iconic Marvel landscapes and combat some of the most dangerous villains in a shared experience is unbelievably compelling.”

I cannot wait to see more info and gameplay. I for one am definitely going to invest some time in this when it releases and hopefully it will get a console release down the line. But for now here is the trailer for it.

On Bungie news. Yeah those guys who created the HALO Franchise. Well they have releases some news concerning their new cross platform IP's.  In the L.A. Times a 27 page contract was showed that Bungie signed for Activision.  The details of the contract lists 4 "Sci-Fi action shooters". The series gives the codename "Destiny" with chapters following every other year starting the Fall of 2013. The years that a chapter is not release the games are set to have 4 DLC Expansion Packs. The DLC has been code named "Comet".  In the contract it is also suggested that at least the first two games will be Xbox exclusives, with the hopes of also getting the Next Gen Sony system to have both depending on quality and assurance that the games will play the same as their Microsoft counterparts. The contract shows a PS3 release of the game in 2014 and that depends if as I stated they get the game to play exactly like the Xbox 360.

“…Destiny Game #1, along with any related DLC Releases as well as Comet #1,
shall be initially developed by Licensor to operate on and be compatible with the Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console (“Xbox 360″)
and the next successor console platform releases by Microsoft configured for both the NTSC and PAL television/video system standards
(“Xbox 720″).”

Here is a bit on the second game.

“…Destiny Game #2, along with any related DLC Releases as well as Comet #2,
shall be initially developed by Licensor to operate on and be compatible with the Xbox 360, Xbox 720,
and the Sony PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system (i.e., the next successor platform released by Sony after PlayStation 3)
… and personal computer with Windows-based operating systems…”

I am interested to see what is Bungie's big game. They have been hinting at this for so long since they gave the Halo franchise away. I am sure they will be putting everything they can on it and will be a great game franchise. Especially if they pull the cross platform play they want.

That is all for the moment. I am off to play some more Ghost Recon:Future Soldier so I can write a review on it. Let me know what you guys think of either the Marvel MMO or Bungie's game details.

Trailer for Lost Planet 3

I figure I would post the debut trailer for Lost Planet 3. I loved the first game and never got a chance to play the 2nd one. I can say I loved the Mech in this trailer looks bad ass and better be playable. I won't go into review on the trailer due to it not being "in game" but a cut scene. None the less it is cool. Hope you enjoy it.

On a side note I have just come back from Gamestop to "pay off"  Ghost Recon:Future Soldier. I was not originally going to purchase this on day one but the wife was nice enough to get me it as a gift for no reason. Must say she did not need to but I do love her for it. I will be at the midnight release for it tonight and the sales associate Julie promises that their will be cake. She makes cakes for most of the Midnight Release parties and they are usually really good. I took a picture of the last midnight release cake i got a piece of it was the Gears 3 release.  She tries her best. I am always looking forward to new releases. Hope you guys enjoy the video  and the cake.

New Releases of the week.
