GameStop states 70% of Trade-Ins Goes Towards New Games

Today has been a busy day for me. So I apologize for the late post. Let’s get on with the news and some tidbits.B3FB80CBA0A84D768CC44706174630ED
GameStop States 70% Of Used Trade-Ins Goes To New Game Purchases

GameStop

In an interview given to Gamasutra company GameStop president Paul Raines stated that $1.8 Billion in sales is funneled back into the gaming industry.

He also stated that most GameStop customers use their store credit towards new titles and not other used games. So according to their metrics would make 70 percent of the credit they give goes into pre-ordering and buying new titles.

The thing that bothered me about his interview was this little statement he said,
“There are a lot of people on the internet who are going to say some negative things about us from time to time. It’s going to get picked up. There are a lot of people [on the internet] who tend to be very developer-centric, they love the developers. Anyone who is perceived as doing anything whatsoever to detract from the developer is going to catch some vitriol from the [internet] folks.“
I am sorry but as someone who avoids GameStop for every purchase because I do not care for their “business practice” that most of the employees have to spew at the customer let alone to keep their jobs, I complain about GameStop’s ways constantly maybe I do not do it online as he claims but I also do not see myself as “developer-centric”.  I cannot agree that the brunt of the complaints come from “non-customers”.
Truth be told if you took away the kids under 16 and the mom’s looking for the one game their kid wants you would not have a huge “gamer” clientele shopping there, but none the less those are the ones who see what is wrong with GameStop.

Scott Pilgrim To adds Multiplayer With New DLC on Aug. 19th

If you look at the upcoming DLC release schedule on XBLA you will notice that Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is getting new DLC to add multi-player on August 19th.

Two Years after the game’s release they are putting this out which is confusing. I like the game and I am sure playing with friends will rock.

The DLC is going to run you 400 MSP and will include a new character, Wallace Wells, who doesn’t use weapons.  The DLC is also coming to PlayStation Network I assume at the same time, though Ubisoft promised more details at a later time.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection goes Digital Download in August

Metal-Gear-Solid-HD-CollectionIf you are like me and did not pick up the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection when it first released. Well no worries the downloadable versions will be released on PSN and XBLA starting August 21st.

Here is how it is going to happen on the 21st you will see Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3 released separately on PlayStation Network and you will seem both combined as a Games on Demand for Xbox 360.

Following week on August 28th, Peace Walker will be made available for both consoles. You can also get them bundled on PSN. No prices have been mentioned for the downloads yet.

On a personal note I ended up picking up some old Sports games from a recent sale that GameStop.com had that marked them an additional 50% off the already cheap price. This is one of the few times I was able to pick up 6 games for about $9.30 which no matter what is a great steal. Just for some achievements.
