Nintendo has a new hardware announced and it is HUGE!

Yes I know there was no blog post yesterday. This I blame on my video editing software. It had gotten stuck rendering when I went out to do errands with the family. Anyway let's get on to what is going on in the gaming news.

First thing late last night Nintendo had a Nintendo Direct video
which announced some of the games for the 3DS and a brand new piece of hardware. The Nintendo 3DS XL which will release on August 19th at the same time as Super Mario Bros. 2. They made no mistake in making that the key fact. With the new  3DS XL comes a screen that is 90% larger and come in two colors a red and a blue version. These are Mario colors conveniently shown. It is suppose to have a better battery life in comparison to the original 3DS. Also which I thought was pretty sweet is that it comes with a 4gb SD card for you to download games. Now I know 4gbs is not a lot but at least you do not have to pay for a 4gb stick right off the bat. The system will be priced at $199.99 which is not bad. Looks as if I will have to put one of these on my amazon wishlist since my birthday is just 4 days after it's launch.

In other Nintendo news they mentioned the Kirby 20th Anniversary Collection. The game was announced months ago but made it's appearance during the video and will bring to the Wii these classic Kirby games.

Kirby’s Dream Land (Game Boy)
Kirby’s Adventure (NES)
Kirby Super Star (NES)
Kirby’s Dream Land 3 (SNES)
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)

I have always liked Kirby and played the gameboy version but never owned the consoles. I am sure I will want to pick this up. The collection will also include a music cd and a full color book history of Kirby. The game will release September 16th.

The other bit of Nintendo news is that Super Smash Bros. will now be handled by Namco/Bandai studios. Creator of SSB Masahiro Sakurai will lead the project as game director. I am sure this will bring some new stuff to the game franchise. One of my favorite fun beat em ups.

As for other news some users at the GOG forums discovered that SquareEnix registered a domain name in June 15th although the site was taken down you can view it through Google's cache. This news led to a possibility of it coming to Steam with 36 achievements and cloud saving functions, also online profiles so you can compare with friends your progress in game.

The last bit of news I have for you that I should and forgot to put up was on Tuesday on the Xbox Marketplace there are a good amount of Games on Demand titles on sale for $4.99.
