Another Post from Ed.

From the desk of Eddy_Thorson is here. In this second post I am going over three games, a movie and a local show. So before we begin let's get the world of comics out the way.

Yes it’s Wednesday, and you know what it mean new comics for the week of 5/2/12. Whether you’re into AvsX or Batman:Night of  Owls, here the link to preview for the new books. http://www.previewsworld.com/shipping/newreleases.txt

Gamer Info

While I do love Video games I keep my collection to a select few, games that have caught my interest. Many of those games have been comic related. So the fan boy inside me scream like a little girl when Batman: Arkham City’ Game of the Year Edition was announce.

Batman: Arkham City’ Game of the Year Edition is set to release on May 29th. That same day, Rocksteady will unleash an all-new story mission for the game centered on Harley Quinn. The Harley Quinn’s Revenge DLC Pack is also included in the GOTY Edition free of charge. Including in the Batman: Arkham City’ Game of the Year Edition – here’s a list of all the add-ons that should be familiar to anyone who has already purchased (or redeemed) any of the following bundles: Catwoman Pack, Nightwing pack, Robin pack, challenge map pack and Arkham city skins pack.

Since, I never download any of the bundle pack, the GotY edition will be great investment.

Another game that I'm currently looking at is “The Walking Dead: a New Day”. I'll be honest I caught on the walking dead series very late (about five years late). So I been reading the trades and watching the AMC Television series. Both comics and TV series focus on the human reaction to a worldwide outbreak rather than the carnage of zombies. Another reason I'm interested in the game is because Ashe keeps tweeting and mentioning the game on his blogs. I decide to download the free trial game on my Xbox and see for myself.

As I played this free trial I notice that developer Telltale Games created a story that focuses on a main character not yet discovered in the comic or TV show. The game follows the seriousness of the books and TV series.

The Walking Dead video game will be released in five separate episodes, the first of which, "A New Day," is available now on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Each episode will cost $5. I know Ashe is focused on having me spend more time on video games. But I this moment in time can’t see myself investing $25 on a DLC game.

Here's my third and final game. On May 22nd Men in Black: Alien Crisis will hit shelves. The only reason I mention this game is because it is comic book related. I can not be a true comic/gamer fan if I don not mention this horrible game. As a gamer I can honestly say I do not want this game

According to sources, Men in Black: Alien Crisis has players take on the role of a M.I.B Agent in training, assigned to unearth aliens who are planning to destroy Earth. Players must ambush aliens’ intelligence and stop all alien attacks. Additionally, all platforms feature two-player split-screen game play and four-person “hot-seat” competitive action for friends and family involvement.

New Movie Review

The Raven is a gothic thriller film directed by James McTeigue and stars John Cusack. Released on April 27, 2012 in the United States.

The Raven is a fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life. Taking place in the mid 19th century; a killer begins murdering victims using methods from Poe's works. Poe himself teams up with a young Baltimore detective to get inside the murderer's mind and try and stop a killer. As the hunt intensifies, Poe's own love interest, Emily Hamilton, becomes a target for the killer.A deadly game of cat and mouse ensues.

While the critics has a split reviews about this movie. I personally enjoyed “The Raven”. There was no over the top special effects, no high flying martial arts, no retelling that included steam punk. “The Raven” is nothing more them a straight-up, down to earth, old fashion Gothic suspense, thriller. I rate this movie 3 out of 5 stars. Only because there was some low points in the movie (especial in Act 1).

Convention Shows

It’s that time of year again for another spring Chiller Theatre. The chiller theatre is in full swing in Parsippany, New Jersey hosted by the Hilton hotel. The semi-annual horror show was packed. It appears that this year people are buying the pre-show tickets then the general admissions. The guest list is the same usual suspects as every Chiller Convention.

My quest for this show was getting John Astin, AKA Gomez Addams of the Addams Family TV series and second Riddler of the 1966 Batman TV series, autograph. I admit meeting John Astin and having the chance to speak with him was great. John Astin was really nice and down to earth. The sad part was I could not get a picture with him my battery died on the camera. While I was there I picked up an unofficial batman beyond collection and more Midnight Syndicate CDs.

This year I set myself up on a budget. I went into the show knowing what I wanted to pick up and look around made my list (not including the guests) for the next show in October 2012. I'm pretty proud of myself, I came in under budget.

Hey All this is Ashe I know this post was originally suppose to have been uploaded last week but I was away at a Beltaine Pagan festival. A week of camping and celebrating the coming of Spring with my wife and kids and all our friends. A true experience. I will post more as of tomorrow. Also look for more posts all week.
